Arsenal won 3-0 in Molde on Thursday night to seal their qualification to the knockout stage of the Europa League. Second-half goals from Nicolas Pepe, Reiss Nelson and Folarin Balogun gave Arsenal a comfortable victory. 11 players from Arsenal’s matchday squad on Thursday night were graduates of their academy.
While things are looking rosy in the Europa League, Arsenal have struggled recently in the league. Last weekend they were held to a 0-0 draw at Leeds, and were somewhat fortunate not to lose the match. That said, they did defend pretty well considering they played much of the game with 10 men.
Prior to that, Arsenal lost 3-0 at home to Aston Villa. Mikel Arteta’s side have lost back-to-back league matches at the Emirates for the first time since December 2019.
Recent results mean Arsenal begin the weekend 12th in the table with 13 points. Wolves are one point but three places above the Gunners.
Wolves were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Southampton on Monday night. Former Arsenal man Theo Walcott opened the scoring for the Saints before Pedro Neto equalised for the home side.
Arsenal’s home record this season is identical to Wolves’ away record: Two wins and two defeats from four matches, with a goal difference of -2.
